We arrived at the Cabin early in the day on Friday to set up camp and get ready for this small two-day project on the Mogollon Rim. This meadow complex is where we built a large continuous rail fence two summers ago. We had several goals for this weekend. On Friday once everyone arrived, we broke into 2 different teams after
setting up our kitchen and camp area. One group made their way up to the pre-existing fence that we had built to check on it and see if there were any screws missing so that they could replace them. A 2nd group stayed back and laid out logs for a Saturday fence build to establish campground borders around the cabins and to block off the access road up to the fence that recreationalist had be using illegally.
The team that was staging the logs finished first and then went to help the fence team finish up their work. As soon as we were all done for the day, we retired to camp and had some boneless wings and fries complete with different sauces. We then sat around for awhile and chatted before retiring for the night. We were even treated to the sight of some elk, and some nice bulls in the area.
Saturday morning, we woke up and had a breakfast of sausage, diced potatoes, eggs, and bacon before starting our log worm fence build. We only had 390 linear feet of fence to build, and as we got to work, it didn’t take long to complete. We opted to break down camp instead of having lunch, and everyone went their respective ways. It was a small project and a small crew, but we worked hard and got what needed to be done accomplished.
